Institute of Management & Research (IMR) was established in 1997 under the aegis of N.P. Goel Charitable Trust. Over the period of 15 years the institute has come up as one of the best B-School’s in NCR region , imparting quality education in a stimulating and innovative environment where students are empowered with knowledge and professional skills. The institute witnessed a rapid growth in northern India with an aim of setting high standards of imparting quality education. Its founder Shri N.P. Goel, well known for his untiring determination and philanthropic approach has been the guiding spirit and inspiration behind the institute.

The PGDM curriculum follows a well-crafted structure that is updated on a regular basis. During the first year,all the students pursue the same course of study and students build a firm, broad foundation of general management concepts and skills across all the key disciplines. In the second year, all students are offered a dual specialization in any two of the offered disciplines (Marketing, Finance, International Business, Human Resource, Information Technology, Retail and Insurance & Risk Management).
The M.B.A. course aims at providing inputs to the students relevant to the business, industry and trade so that they can function in different organizations and face the challenges arising therefrom . The course not only aims at providing knowledge and skills in different areas of management, but also provides inputs necessary for the overall development of the personality of the students.
The structure of the course is designed in a way that students have to study the core courses from different functional areas of management that are made compulsory. Later on, specializations are offered in functional areas where the students can opt for two specializations out of the five offered: Marketing, Finance, IT, HR and International Business and one open specialization. Right from the beginning of the course, the focus is on providing relevant inputs through case discussion/ analysis, simulation games, role plays etc. keeping in mind the current business scenario.
We at IMR believe that the best IT manager is not only the one who has the knowledge and skill to work on the latest technology but also the one who has been trained to foresee and adapt to emerging technologies. We, therefore, strive to produce the best technocrats with a long term vision and try to inculcate a spirit of scientific self-growth, a spirit which can’t be attained simply with a degree.
In the fast changing global scenario where the computer plays a vital role, computer knowledge has become essential for everyone. Information Technology has completely revolutionized the world and created high profile job prospects worldwide. Such is the impact and global demand of Indian software professionals that India is called an IT superpower by software gurus. Computerization of all works of life in India has resulted and is resulting in even more requirements of highly qualified software professionals and experts. According to recent surveys, there is a huge shortage of technocrats in our country and the MCA degree is still the safest bet as far as employment is concerned.
Besides the course curriculum prescribed by Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow, and the Institute also offers value added courses on latest technologies like WAP, E-Commerce, Web Development, Oracle, Client / Server Technology, J2EE, .Net, Android & phone Python etc. which would be required by the software industry. Guest lectures and workshops are also conducted to build a solid foundation of the students to meet the forthcoming challenges of the industry.
Eligibility Criteria PGDM:
Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% aggregate marks under10+2+3 system or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/ AICTE as eligible for Post Graduate Diploma in Management . Students appearing for the final year of degree examination can also apply. Admissions shall be through one of the All India Entra nceTests: CAT/ MAT/ XAT / ATMA / any other national level entrance exam followed by a Test of Written English, Group Discussion and Personal Interview
Eligibility Criteria For MCA:
The candidate must have passed BCA/B.Sc (IT/CS) of minimum 3 years from any recognized Indian university with minimum 50% for General and OBC (45% for SC/ST) and having math at 10+2 or at graduation level. Admission shall be through a combined entrance test UPSEE Conducted by Uttar Pradesh Technical Universty, Lucknow. Candidate appearing for the final year Bachelor’s degree/Equivalent qualification examination and are awaiting for their result can also apply.
Eligibility Criteria MBA:
Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% aggregate marks under 10+2+3system or equivalent in any discipline. Admissions shall be through the combined entrance test UPSEE conducted by Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), Lucknow. Any other All India Entrance Tests followed by Test of Written English, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Students appearing for final year of degree examination can also apply.
Placement is just one of the meeting points between IMR and the industry. It is our endeavor to facilitate the exchange of knowledge between the students and the industry. IMR provides a platform for placement where companies are invited to recruit students of various specializations and work experience. Potential employers are able to undertake on-campus recruitment through a stream-lined process of registrations, Pre-Placement talks and selection.
IMR has been successful in adding more & more Companies in the list of its recruiters. Corporate resource centre tries to bridge the gap between analytical and functional skill by providing the best fit to the Students. Students are ready to undertake any challenge from the first day of their professional life.
The Placement Cell is also responsible for conducting various events like MDPs, Personality development programmes for the students, guest lecturers, industry visits, seminar & conferences, participation in education and career fairs and networking .The PDPs are organized to enhance their soft skills and provide an edge in the selection process.
The Placement Cell’s activities can be broadly categorized into:
- Career counseling by faculty and trained professionals in different functional areas.
- A structured Personality Development Programme, wherein interviewing skills are imbibed by trainers and corporates alike.
- Developing effective resumes.
- Mentoring by the alumni, in terms of sharing experiences vis-à-vis realities of corporate life, refining expectations and projecting future trends.
- The Placement Team identifies the potential recruiters, interacts with selected companies and coordinates the visit of such corporate executives to the campus.
- An effective way of creating awareness about companies among students is to provide information. The information could be in the form of company brochures, pamphlets and other published information. The Placement Officer ensures distribution of published material among students.
- At IMR, various events, guest speaker panels, conferences, workshops and academic fairs are organized in which companies participate directly or contribute through partnerships.
- Projects are an integral part of the academic curriculum at IMR. Both Summer and Live projects with organizations provide students with basic understanding of the companies operations; this ultimately enhances the adaptability of students at large.
