The trust “Vishnu Education Foundation” was formed in 2004 by Er. Vishnu Saran, the known philanthropist, and like minded persons. Like minded philanthropists of this region joined hands and took upon themselves the social causes and established charitable hospitals and vocational schools. They felt the need on the turn of the century to train the technical man power for the new millennium and established engineering institutes, hence the foundation of Meerut Institute of Engineering & Technology, Meerut was laid in 1997 to prepare young man and women for the new millennium. Then promoters founded Meerut Institute of Technology in 2007 under another charitable trust Vishnu Education Foundation.
This Trust i.e. Vishnu Education Foundation has stemmed out from the same society “The City Educational & Social Welfare Society”. The Meerut Institute of Engineering & Technology, Meerut (MIET) had also received UPTU Excellence Award in 2008 and 2009 from Gautam Buddh Technical University, Lucknow. MIET is a leading Institute known for placement and academic excellence and is also a preferred destination for technical education for students of Uttar Pradesh particularly in this region. Over the years the society has developed many institutes in the field of Engineering and Tech., Management studies, Pharmaceutical Science and Computer Applications.

Candidate must have clearly passed without Grace in intermediate examination of U.P. Board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board / University; securing minimum 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ST Category candidates) without grace in required subject combination of two compulsory subjects (Physics & Mathematics) and one optional subject (Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Biology) taken together.
B.Tech. 2nd year:
Candidate must have passed three years Diploma in Engineering course; securing minimum 45% for General & OBC (40% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in aggregate or three years B.Sc. degree and passed XII standard with Mathematics as one of the subject; securing minimum 45% for General & OBC (40% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in aggregate
MIT has over 800 Corei3 / Core 2 Dual / Dual Core computers arranged in 20 separate labs for B. Tech. students. Internet facility is available to students through a dedicated leased line of 42 MBPS with optical fibre backbone. MIT computer center is well equipped with latest Hardware and Software Technology, latest server and HP Work Stations . All labs in the Institute are on LAN and WiFi. All campuses are WiFi enab
Central library is an essential component of MIT research and education mission. The library has a well rounded collection of 39,465 volumes of books divided into 4,153 titles. These included Textbooks, foundation books and books on subsidiary readings.
The library has wide collection of latest books and journals. It has subscription to various National and International journals in print besides a large number of e-journals through INDEST AICTE Consortium like IEEE, Springer, Wiley, J-gate, ProQuest, Science Direct, Business Source Elite ASTM Digital Library, McGraw Hill Access Engineering.
MIT provides on campus accommodation for students. Separate hostels for girls and boys are available in campus. The hostels are well equipped and rooms are furnished with single / double / triple / quadruple occupancy and Internet connectivity. Rooms are furnished with beds, mattresses, study table, wardrobe. Mess functions under the control of students on co-operative basis.
The institute have its own fleet of over 22 buses that ply on several routes across Meerut and its neighboring areas including Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad and Delhi, serving both students and staff. Bus facilities are also available to students living in hostels to visit the city. Students are charged on no profit no loss basis.
A senior Medical Officer is available daily on campus to provide medical consultation to students and staff. The Medical Officer also dispenses medicines free of cost for common ailments. In addition, the Institute provides 24 hours ambulance service in association with Dayanand Nursing Home located at Begum Bridge (Heart of the town) to cope with any medical emergency. In cases of emergency, MITians are referred to Subharti Medical College and hospital located close to the campus.
