Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science, Indore was established in 1952. SGSITS is recognized as a leading institute in the state of Madhya Pradesh and the western region consistently during its glorious journey of sixty years. It has been ranked among top 30-40 institutes on national level (including IITs and NITs) by independent bodies. Further looking to its credentials, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi, has declared the institute as autonomous in 1989. Under the autonomous state, the institute is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidhyalaya (university of technology of M.P.) Bhopal.
Presently, the institute offers ten UG courses (Regular), four UG courses (Part time), PG programs with twenty two specializations, two part time PG courses in various disciplines under the emerging areas of Engineering, Technology, Applied Sciences, Computer Applications, Management & Pharmacy.
Apart from spacious class rooms and well equipped laboratories, the campus of the institute encompasses four boys hostels, two girls hostel, one transit hostel and 44 faculty quarters. Institute has central library which has vast collection of books, reference library and a large number of subscribed online and print journals. In addition, institute also houses various amenities such as Play ground, Gymnasium, Indoor Sports Complex, Guest House, a branch of Oriental Bank of Commerce, a branch of Institution of Engineers, Co-operative Stores, Canteen, Ladies Common Room, Dispensary and office of SGSITS Alumni Association.

The Central Library was established in 1955 with a small collection of 429 books. Currently it earns the status of the biggest college library in central India in the field of technology and science education. It is full flagged with good quality of high cost standard reference and text – books, world reputed International and National research journals, theses, project reports, audio/visual and electronic learning resources in all disciplines of technical education. It also contains the literature of social sciences and humanities.
The central library has separate three-floor building with the floor area of 2050 Sq. Meters. It has six major separate sections for Administrative and Circulation operations, Textbooks collection, Book-Bank collection, Reference collection, Journals, Theses and Reports Collection and Computer section for digital resources.
Computer Centre is an important component of a technical institute. Centre has two well equipped labs with state-of-the-art computers. It provides computing facilities to all the 1st year students for their programming related practical work and Internet surfing. As sufficient number of computers are available, students get enough time and opportunity to practice and strengthen their programming skills. Facilities are also used for conduction of programming labs for students of higher classes of various branches, conduction of on-line tests for various companies that come to the institute for recruitment, facilitates for online registration, exam form filling etc. Computer Centre has also been offering services to various departments of the institute in maintenance of their computer systems and peripherals.
Central Work Shop:
Central Workshop is the biggest workshop among the engineering colleges situated in MP having all-round facilities for studentâ€™s learning and for developing their Projects of varying fields with a well trained team of around 20 staff having proficiency in different fields.
In the Central Workshop various facilities are available for all BE I st year and IInd year, IIIed year , IVrt year IP and Mech Engg. Student and ME student of IEM, CIM and CAD-CAM for research work.
There is a medical facility of Dispensary in Institute Premises which is open from 12:00 PM to 06:00 PM. Dr. Mrs. Monica Bindal visits the Dispensary from 01:00PM to 02:00PM as Lady Doctor while Dr. Manish Bindal (General Physician) is available from 05:00PM to 06:00PM for consultation. Facilities regarding First-Aid etc. are available in the Dispensary full time and a full time compounder is also available.
The Training and Placement Office has come in its inception since quite a long and is performing the following activities:-
1. Arranging inplant training for students and
2. Inviting various organizations for campus recruitment.
For placement a large number of prospective employers are contacted during the year and the number of companies visiting regularly this Institute are increasing every year which has reached to around 40-50 by now
