Seemanta Engineering College, Mayurvihar, Mayurbhanj was the pet project of the Seemanta Mahavidyalaya Samiti. The project was instituted in 1997 to cater to the long cherished demands of technical education of North Odisha and the bordering regions of Jharkhand and West Bengal.
The Institute domiciled the confluence of NH – 5 and NH – 6 in the clean, green and serene foothills of Similipal National park as its permanent abode. The site of the Institute in such an exquisite ambience crafted an atmosphere perfectly conducive for the quest of residential Engineering. The team of dedicated, experienced and qualified faculty with a commitment to groom professionals of the 21st century’s corporate cosmos blended with an active corporate focussed placement cell facilitate the Institute’s success story in leaving an imprint among the students and their parents.
The establishment of Seemanta Engineering College during the 90’s in the district of Mayurbhanj in the extreme North end of Odisha bordering the then Bihar and now and West Bengal won accolade from all quarters of cross border intellectual society. The institute was the one and only Technical institution of the entire North and Rural Odisha by then.
The need of huge growth in infrastructure development especially in the developing nations like India necessitates quality manpower in the field of Civil Engineering full of innovative ideas. These architects of a promising prosperous world need to be skilled enough to produce low cost , cutting edge technology to meet the demands of the weaker sections of the society.
Computer Science Department:
The world today is powered by the revolution in the field of information and technology. What would happen to this world without computers is definitely beyond anybody’s comprehension these days. The future of the universe and civilization is to be governed with the innovations in the field of computer Science and Engineering. This proposition has paved the path of rapid spread of computer education in all societies. India has already proved its might in the field and is reckoned all over the globe for its contribution to this field.
The field of Electrical Engineering being one of the core areas of engineering has great demand even in this age of information technology. The recent slowdown of IT market has revived the interest of the engineering education aspirants with a renewed vigour. Although the focus of the world shifted to other fields of engineering for some period of time in the past few decades, the importance of it has never been diminished and neither it will be.
ENTC Department :
The revolution in the field of telecommunication has changed the face of the entire globe within last few decades and made it a global village only to make the life of humans a lot smooth and easier. The future of the world would also be largely decided by the innovations in the field. The Management of Seemanta Engineering College in 1997 could sense that trend to institute the department of Electronics and Tele communication engineering with the commencement of the much awaited technical education project of it.
Elec. & Instr. Department :
The electronics world has seen a revolution in recent times and so do the industries. The industries that make use of machines and instruments opted for their automation and control as their usage was complicated and needed precision. The traditional field of electronics stressed on its application and made a pressing demand for a specialized branch in engineering that can produce engineers having expertise in real time application, computation, data acquisition, processing and feedback, remote sensing etc. Keeping in view of the trend of the market the department had been added to the portfolio of disciplines of Seemanta Engineering College in 1999.
Mechanical Department :
The ever growing demands of human civilization multiplied with the huge growth of population necessitated the urgency of development of intelligent machines matching the aspirations of civilization. The field of Mechanical engineering that’s why always remains a hot cake for all aspiring technocrats. Such a field of engineering definitely exists since long but quality of the hatching points of Mechanical engineers is definitely a matter that needs every ones attention.
The information and technology industry requires huge number of professionals to meet the demands as its application is seen in all spheres of life. The need of software professionals cannot be met only by the graduates in the field. The industry needs post graduates who can meet the requirements of the software industry as well as the field research and pedagogy.
Basic Science Department:
The Departments of basic Sciences include Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. These departments exist independently catering to the syllabus of the engineering syllabus across disciplines.
The department of Physics cater to the teaching requirements of BTech students who have Physics as a subject in their syllabus in 1st and 2nd semester. Apart from that the department also takes care of the subject of Physics of semiconductor devices of Electronics engineering students. The department has well equipped laboratory and experienced faculty and support staff to guide and provide firsthand experience on the application of the principles of physics in real life situations.
Humanities Department :
The subjects of English, Economics and Management combine to form the department of humanities. Through the teaching of these subjects, the department plays a pivotal role in shaping the personality of prospective technocrats by nurturing the social and communication skills within them. It tries to incorporate a human face to technology through social and behavioural sciences within the engineers to adapt themselves well with the mainstream society.
