AWH is a pioneering welfare organization whose charity and service oriented activities date back to1970s. The corporate office is located in Calicut, Kerala. The visionaries of AWH wanted to make the organization versatile and unique capable of participating in the process of social transformation and hence focused their attention towards special education for mentally retarded and physically handicapped students as well as in higher education and technical education for all.
The education system conceived by AWH, by training students and instilling in them a quest for excellence and innovation with a resolute approach to productivity, global awareness and professional competence, has made its indelible mark in the field of higher education.

AWH Engineering College is a prestigious project of the Association for Welfare of the Handicapped (AWH), approved by AICTE, NewDelhi and affiliated to University of Calicut. Today AWH has 86 institutions dealing with all aspects of disability welfare and general, reaching over 10,000 beneficiaries annually. In fact, AWH is the only one of its kind under Muslim minority management in the country. Special education, higher education and technical education are thrust areas of the AWH. Several programs under the Human Resource Development are undertaken by the AWH. The AWH is committed to promote and propagate quality education on par with international standards. It is our earnest ambition to groom talents and turn them into top quality professionals with high intellectual capabilities and strong moral values.

Training & Placement:
AWH Engineering College has an independent placement office focused to cater to the needs of leading organizations in conducting campus interviews for the final year students of AWH Engineering College. It is headed by a senior professor with additional charge and supported by a fulltime, permanent placement coordinator. The office is assisted by student representatives from various branches of study. The placement office ensures and takes care to provide the best arrangements and hospitality to the HR team from various companies.
The placement office functions with facilities for PPT, written test, group discussions and interviews. It plays a key role in career counseling and guiding of students of AWH Engineering College for their successful career placement.This includes advising the students on placement procedures, directing them on resume preparation,giving training in group discussions, interviews and written tests. This office also co-ordinates the various activities related to institute-industry interaction.
The college provides transport facilities for staff and students by means of six buses owned by the college and plying between the city and the college.
Play grounds are made available for football, cricket, volley ball and other sports activities. A 200 m track is laid for this purpose. Special coaching programs are conducted for the students to participate in inter college/University level sports competition.
Technical Activities 2011-2012:
The HODs and senior faculty from EEE and ECE Departments attended the 22nd annual convention of ISTE, Kerala Section held at at Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, Trichur in November 2011. Mr. Premanandan, Asst. Professor, EEE Dept. attended the 26th Indian Engineering Congress at Bangalore during 15th to 18th Dec. 2011. Prof. Mredula L, H.O.D., ECE attended a two day ISTE workshop at Amal Jyothy Engineering College, Kanjirappally, conducted by IIT Mumbai. She also presented a paper at National Conference in AVIT Chennai, as part of PhD program.
Due to its excellent infrastructural facilities, AWHEC was selected as the venue for conducting ISAT Entrance Exam for B.Tech at ISRO. Several colleges from neighbouring institutions like CAPE were given permission to use the lab facilities of the civil engineering department. The HOD and faculty of civil department held a high hand in the smooth coordination of these classes. Study tours and industrial visits were also conducted for the pre-final year and final year students of all the branches. Infosys conducted a one day Road Show at AWHEC, followed with a webinar. DIC General Manager, Mr. Yohanan gave a talk on enterpreneurship and recommended students to join the cell.
AWH Engineering College (AEC), established in 2001, is a self financing engineering college managed by Association for Welfare of Handicapped (AWH), Kozhikode, Kerala. It is affiliated to the University of Calicut and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). AWH Engineering College is a co-educational institution established with the sole purpose of honoring engineers of excellent qualities.
