The Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition, Jyotisar, Distt. Kurukshetra is an Autonomous Institute jointly sponsored by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and Department of Tourism, Government of Haryana. It is a society registered under Society of Registration Act with District Registrar of Firms & Societies, Kurukshetra. Its first academic session commenced from July 2008. It is located on Kurukshetra – Pehowa Road, adjacent to famous Kalpana Chawla Plantarium, and is 2 kms from Kurukshetra University.
Kurukshetra town is situated 160 km North to Delhi on the National Highway No 1 and is connected to rail & road net works. Kurukshetra is also famous for ‘seat of learning’ having Kurukshetra University and Regional Engineering College. The Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition is another addition to this famous educational city.
Kurukshetra is a place of great historical and religious importance, revered all over the country for its sacred association. It was here that Lord Krishna preached his philosophy of ‘KARMA’ to Arjuna, as enshrined in Holy Bhagwat Gita. In the very first verse of Bhagwat Gita, Kurukshetra is described as DHARAMSHETRA i.e. ‘Region of Righteousness’.

Basic Training Kitchen (BTK)
The BTK is used for providing training to the students of 1st year in basic Continental and Indian cuisines. The kitchen is equipped with latest equipments used in the hotel industry .
Advance Training Kitchen (ATK)
The ATK is used for teaching and training international cuisines to the final year students. The ATK is the kitchen where specialised training is given to the budding Chefs.
Quantity Food Kitchen (QFK)
QFK is used for 2nd year students who learn to cook for large number of guests and learn to cook the regional cuisines of India. Students cook lunch for more than 300 people which is served as lunch to all students of the institute. Breakfast and Dinner for hostellers is also cooked in this kitchen.
Bakery & Confectionary:
The Bakery & Confectionary department trains the students in the art of making yeast products, flour confectionary products, pastries, cakes, chocolates, cold and hot pudding the way these are prepared in the industry. IHM, Kurukshetra has two separate Bakery labs for practice for 1st year and 3rd year students.
The Institute house keeping lab is equipped with the most modern machines to train the students to provide clean and hygienic atmosphere.
The three model guest rooms designed as hotel rooms are used to provide hands on training to the students.
“HOMELY HOSTEL” That is how we define our dwelling place at IHM campus. Our “home away from home” is well built & emphasized on cleanliness. The Institute of Hotel Management, Kurukshetra is in peaceful, clean & aesthetic environment.
Institute has 70 seater boy’s hostel and 24 seater girl’s hostel.
Students (boys & girls) will be admitted on triple sharing basis (3 students in one room). For the allocation of the room in the hostel, decision of the warden will be final and binding for all the hostlers. Boy’s hostel facility will be extended only in 1st and 2nd semester (Further on request subject to availability). The girls’ hostel facility once accommodated will be available till the completion of the course (On request subject to availability). Mess facility for hostel students will start tentatively from 18th July with dinner service.
Financial Assistance To Meritorious Students Of Financially Weaker Section Of Society:
The Board of Governors of Institute has taken a decision to give financial assistance to the meritorious students of financially weaker section of society. Under this scheme a student can apply for financial assistance from 2nd semester onwards (after midterm examination in case of Diploma students) on the basis of their result of 1st semester / midterm marks and attendance. In addition student will also have to satisfy the authorities of Institute about financial condition of family with authentic documents.
Such financial assistance can be Rs. 15,000 to 25,000 per semester depending upon the circumstances subject to following condition:
- Student will maintain minimum 75% attendance.
- He will obtain at least 60% marks without any back paper in further semester ending examination.
