It is a matter of great pride for all of us that the Sumandeep College of Nursing came in to existence merely three years ago in 2006, with a philosophy of “service to the sufferers is supreme”. I got an opportunity to give my heart and soul for the neophytes entering in this profession by being the first principal of this esteemed institution. The nursing profession is a fine example of national integrity as nurses serve humanity without any sort of prejudice of caste, colour, creed, religion or language. The concept of nursing has diversified over the years and it is no longer confined to the hospitals and patient care only. Today, nurses are the sheet anchor of the health care delivery system, thereby play a vital role in promotion of health.
The Sumandeep College of Nursing believes that:
Nursing science is a discipline that requires nurses’ continuous professionalism throughout their life. Nursing professionals also need to be highly skillful in order to meet the client’s comprehensive health care needs and to expand their professional functions in solving various problems. In addition, nurses need to demonstrate leadership by coordination with other health professionals.
In order to achieve these aims, the Sumandeep College of Nursing believes in endorsing excellence in every area of its teaching, maintaining and developing its position as world Class College to enrich international and regional communities through the skill of its nursing graduates. The College also pursues ideal healthcare that fits the local culture and lifestyle and provides learning activities rich with practical and applied educational materials based on research findings. Evidence-Based Nursing Education (EBNE)
This is the need of hours for nursing profession in India to be upgraded through the evidence based nursing education. In India, Indian National Council (INC) and of State Nursing councils are responsible for meeting the global mission of protecting the public through the regulation of safe nursing practice.
These Nursing councils are governmental agencies that approve nursing programs, establish the objectives that nursing programs must meet. If the programs fail to meet the objectives statuary councils have the authority to sanction them, after allowing for a reasonable opportunity to comply with the standards.
Because the nursing councils rules and regulation are mandatory to approve all the nursing programs, the councils are interested in knowing the evidence-based elements of nursing education that are essential for preparing new nurses for safe entry-level practice.
