G.Narayanamma Institute of Technology & Science (GNITS) (For Women), sponsored by G.Pulla Reddy Charities Trust was started on 15th December 1997. Sri G.Pulla Reddy was an eminent business man of great integrity and impeccable reputation. His business of vending sweets of surpassing taste and purity has earned him a celebrity status all over Andhra Pradesh. Though a man of minimum qualification he became an educationist par excellence by starting a number of educational institutions of varied dimensions in Kurnool and Hyderabad. He was the Chairman of G.Pulla Reddy Charities Trust and under his pragmatic guidance
G.Narayanamma Institute of Technology & Science (for women) has recorded phenomenal growth in a short span of time. On 15th December 1997 he started an Engineering College for women with the key notion of uplifting the role of women in society and empowering them with an increasing awareness. G.Pulla Reddy Charities Trust soon became a pioneer in establishing a chain of Institutions exclusively for women. GNITS has been accredited by NBA once. It has achieved permanent affiliation of JNTU, Hyderabad in the year 2007-2008 for a period of three years and again from 2009-10 to 2011-12.
The institute is maintaining about 90% as pass percentage for outgoing students in all most all courses. The college has developed 4,01,100 Sq.Ft. of infrastructure to accommodate 2500 students. Two hostel buildings have been constructed within the campus to accommodate 650 boarders. There are some air conditioned rooms to accommodate the needy students. 25 mbps leased line is provided and the total campus is provided with Wi-fi facility. Achieving more than 80 to 85% placements every year is one of the GNITS speciality. The staff produced more than 100 research papers in international journals consistently. 9 professors are guiding Ph.D. scholars in 5 universities and a few of the Ph.D. scholars are awarded with Ph.D. and some of the scholars have submitted their thesis to the respective universities. Based on the performance, JNTU Hyderabad is processing to sanction exclusive Research Centre for GNITS.

With in a short span of time, G. Narayanamma Institute of Technology & Science, for women grew an infrastructure with 7 permanent buildings including two Hostel Blocks. The buildings have been aesthetically designed with good ventilation and upto date departmental labs.
INTERNET CENTER GNITS has one separate Internet Center in the F Block with 100 systems. This lab is equipped with 25 Mbps leased line. The facility is provided by the management for all the students and staff of GNITS.
Presently, the Internet Center is under the control of Information Technology Department. This full fledged internet lab contains equipment like COBALT cube, CISCO router, Cygnus Modems,D-link switches etc. Dr.I.Ravi Prakash Reddy, Professor of Information Technology Department is the in charge of the Internet Center on behalf of the IT Dept.
This center is kept open from 9:30 A.M. to 6 :30P.M. on all working days. 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. on Sundays The total college is connected to internet with more than 200 systems.
Mrs. Bharatha Lakshmi Devi joined the Institution as Librarian in 1998. With her vast experience of 20 yrs including 15 yrs in GNITS, she played a key role in getting the library to its present shape. She has 5 research papers to her credit and has visited libraries both in India & abroad. She is also the ISO coordinator for GNITS.
G. Narayanamma Institute of Technology and Science (for women) was established aiming at the technical education for women. Considering the need for providing safe transport facilities, the management has taken decision to provide college transport for the students and staff on payment basis.
G. Narayanamma Institute of Technology and Science provides accomodation to students wishing to reside in the hostel. The hostel also has a Hostel Council which is an advisory body comprising the Warden of the Hostel (as its Chairman), the Asst. Warden and the elected student secretaries as its members. Every student who has been admitted to the institute is required to pay the prescribed hostel seat rent and establishment charges. These charges are subject to revision from time to time. The rooms vacated by the outgoing students are made available by the warden for other students.
After completion of this process, the number of vacant rooms available in hostel for allotment to freshers is intimated.Each room is provided with a cot, a table, a chair, a bookshelf and cupboard. Residents cannot move the furniture or fittings from one room to another. Private cooking in the rooms is prohibited.
A number of recreational, sports and social activities take place in the hostel during the academic year. A few rooms in the hostel are used for common facilities such as: Computer room(20 computers are available), indoor sports, etc. A laundromat is available in the hostel for use by the residents. Students can relax in the evenings or on holidays by spending their leisure time in the common room which is equipped with a T.V, newspapers and magazines. One half of the common room houses a table-tennis (TT) board as well. Avid sports enthusiasts can take the sports equipment from the sports room which is maintained by the Hostel.
The dept. of Physical Education is headed by Dr.M.V.L.Surya Kumari. Her Educational qualifications are M.Sc.M.P.Ed Ph.D. Dr. Surya Kumari was awarded first Ph.D. in the area of Physical Education from Osmania University. She carried out her research work at National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad on Sports Nutrition and Exercise Physiology with UGC fellowship.
She is a National Gold medalist in Athletics, participated in many national and Inter University tournaments. Dr. Surya Kumari is a certified Yoga Trainer and Diabetes Therapist.
She presented 10 research papers in International conferences held at USA, Australia, Thailand, UK ( Pre London Olympic conferences at Glasgow and Cambridge University) and India. She was an invited speaker for Sports nutrition work shop organized at Common wealth Games conducted in 2010 at New Delhi, India.
Samskruthi” the Cultural Club of GNITS offers students the much needed space and opportunity to showcase their creative & artistic talents under the guidance of Mrs.V.B. Sangeetha, Asst. Professor of English. Some of the events organized under the banner are:
ALACRITY 2014 – The annual cultural extravaganza organized in the month of March ’14.
One of the unique features of this year’s fest is the musical ballad called JAZBA–a concept conceived entirely by the students.The event showcased the spirit of women through dance.
A ‘street play’ portraying the current social evils plaguing the society was staged which is another first of its kind for GNITS.
