A group of distinguished health care visionaries, impassioned by the urgent public health concerns plaguing the nation, set up the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) in 2009. The emphasis was on fast tracking health care solutions that would meet the intensive healthcare needs of a rapidly developing economy. In the years following its inception, THSTI has emerged as a dynamic and interactive organization with a mission to conduct innovative translational research across various disciplines to accelerate the development of concepts into tangible products for improvement of public health across the nation.
Created as an autonomous institute by the Government of India, under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, THSTI forms a pivotal node in a broader cluster of institutes collectively referred to as the NCR Biotech Science Cluster and targetted at specializing in translational research and related endeavors. The cluster is an ambitious initiative that aims to create a unique institutional ecosystem and further synergize resources and infrastructure, coordinated development and maximize societal benefits
Admission to the THSTI-JNU PhD program for winter semester 2016-17:
For candidates with medical, life sciences (including biomedical, health, pharmaceutical, nutritional science, public health), veterinary science, engineering, or mathematics background
Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is a part of the inter-disciplinary Biotech Science Cluster at Faridabad in the National Capital Region. THSTI is designed to be a dynamic and interactive organization with a mission to conduct innovative translational research across disciplines and professions to accelerate the development of concepts into tangible products to improve human health. THSTI is a recognized R&D institute of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi to offer doctoral program.
Applications are invited for the direct admission to THSTI-JNU PhD program during winter semester, 2016-2017. This programme is to encourage medical graduates with interest in basic sciences/or experienced science graduates willing to pursue research as a career in the areas of molecular medicine
Only those candidates shall be considered for Direct Admission to the Ph.D. programme, who have either—
(a) Obtained MBBS or BVSc degree (during 2010 or later) from a recognized University/Institution with one year experience or obtained MD /MVSc. degree/M.Pharm (during 2011 or later; experience is not essential).
(b) Obtained 2 years M.Phil degree from a recognized University/Institution with FGPA 6 or equivalent (with dissertation/seminar/Viva).
(c) The institute reserves the right to adopt additional criteria for shortlisting of the applications.
Selection procedure: Applicants fulfilling the above essential criteria and having their own
fellowship and those shortlisted based on the above mentioned eligibility criteria will be invited for the interview. Based on their performance in the interview and taking into consideration their overall experience and research work, selected candidates shall interact with potential PhD supervisors and provide their choice of supervisors. Final allotment of supervisors shall be made based on choices exercised by both the students and the supervisors

take a print out of the application, sign it and send it to the Head-Administration of the institute at the above address along with the application fee and self-attested copies of documents in support of qualification so as to reach latest by 21stNovember 2016. Candidates in government employment are required to send their application through proper channel or
produce NOC at the time of interview. Applications received after the closing date will not be entertained on any ground including postal delay. Incomplete applications in any respect will be summarily rejected and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
Application fee: Non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500 for General and OBC candidates,
and Rs. 250 for SC/ST/PWD candidates should be paid by bank draft in favor of Translational
Health Science and Technology Institute payable at Gurgaon
