The two-year, full time management programme approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India and affiliated to U.P.Technical University is a natural extension as well as a consolidation of the Institute’s over three decades of excellence in management, training and consultancy. This programme has been envisaged with a view to expand the range of Institute’s activities to cater to growing demand of professionally trained young managers resulting from the liberalization and globalization of India’s economy. The basic strategy of the institute is to ensure that all the three activities viz. training, consultancy and management education should provide synergistic development impetus to each other.
The MBA Programme is designed to develop professional managers who can shoulder varied responsibilities in organizations in different sectors of our economy. They must be comfortable and confident while making decisions under the circumstances of risk and uncertainty and must be willing to manage risk, deal with complex situations and harmonize individual and group efforts.
The emphasis is on self-learning and to promote an inquisitive and analytical mind. The role of the Institute is to stimulate the students through a balance of pedagogic approaches. The programme is designed in an integrated manner, emphasising synthesis, symbiosis and synergy among its components. The internalisation of knowledge rather than its mere acquisition, is emphasised. Balanced importance is given to classroom teaching, non-classroom learning and internship for the development of the right attitude, skills and knowledge. Classroom teaching is consolidated by combining lectures with case studies, business games and group discussion. Non-class room curriculum consists of assignments and projects which provide opportunities to the students to apply their knowledge to the work situation within the Institute and outside. A combination of appropriate instructional methodologies are employed in the course. The basket of teaching methods employed includes lectures, case discussions, exercises, seminars, role plays, management games, assignments, term papers, project work, audio-visual aids and computer based learning methods. The students are required to make presentation of their term papers and reports. The students are also expected to contribute, wherever possible, towards research and consultancy assignments undertaken by the Institute.
