Jabalpur Engineering College, Jabalpur was established on 7 July, 1947 when the entire global chess board was witnessing a dramatic change. It was born just a few months before India broke the shackles of British slavery. This illustrious Institution got the distinction of being the Second Engineering College in India and is the premier institution of Engineering Education in Central India. Thanks to the inspired vision of the great pioneering Principal Dr. S.P. Chakravarti. From a very small room in old Robertson College, this tiny icon has grown into a mighty oak tree, which is now 63 years old and has celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in the year 2007.
World class teaching standards and labs has paid off on many occasions in the past and it still continues to glorify the name and the legacy of a prestigious institute such as this. MP PET – or – PEPT
MP-PET is the Pre-Engineering Test for admission to various colleges in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is conducted by Vyapam, the Professional Examination Board of Madhya Pradesh. Vyapam has been conducting the MP-PET since 1981 for admission to various Regional Engineering Colleges.

The college library has been established with the view to promote life long learning and improving knowledge,skills and competence of its students. It always strives to improve the standard of this facilities. There are about One Lakh Ten Thousand volumes of books in our college library. The library contains all the standard text books recommended by the University.Encyclopedia’s, handbooks, dictionaries, Project reports, bound volumes of periodicals 3000 CD’s. Multiple copies of the text books are obtained to make them available to as many students as possible. Students belonging to General Category,5 books are issued and for SC&ST 7 books are issued.
JEC has for its regular students all the National/State Scholarship available to the eligible candidates. State scholarships for the welfare and promotion of ST, SC, OBC and the child of landless agriculture labor.
Physically challenged candidates are also provided with scholarships.
Besides these Regular Scholarships, Our College has the pride of honouring those students who display exceptional qualities in Academics by conferring them the Gold Medal
College provides excellent facilities for many sports. Its campus consists of a play-ground an Indoor Basketball Court, Volley Ball ground, T.T. Tables & a Tennis Court which encourage students to participate in different sports. Sports persons are given incentives in terms of certificates, cash prizes & trophies. Special coaching is organized for players selected to represent college at various sports events. The college team members are provided with kit & uniforms. The team captain & outstanding sports persons are provided blazers. For those students who are active in sports at various levels, attendance requirement at the college is relaxed.
NATIONAL CADETS CORPS – NCC
NATIONAL CADETS CORPS (NCC)The NCC platoons of JEC, have been consistently taking up various activities in order to fulfil not only the basic requirements of NCC training but also to the needs of the society in particular & the nation in general. JEC, NCC unit is one of the four technical units in M.P. There are two platoons EME & Engineers which have 53 cadets each. During the session 2009-10 two NCC camps were organized in our college campus in which several cadets from different places got training.
Some Key Achievements :
Following is a short list if our achievements in the field of sports and games which is an ample testimony of the powers of JEC boys and girls.
Combined annual training camps were arranged at JEC campus with the strength of over 1000 cadets from M.P.
Students participated in National Integration Camp (NIC) at Sikkim, Shimla and Andman etc.
Events like Para-sailing, Tracking etc. were organized for the overall growth of cadets.
Visits to Army Base Workshop 506,were arranged, to get real time exposure of the functioning of Machineries and equipments used by the Army.
The students were given training on rifle shooting and self defense techniques.
