Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering (JNNCE) was established in the year 1980 by the National Education Society, a pioneer society in Malnad region founded by freedom fighters of high repute. The College is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and also by Government of Karnataka. The College campus is spread over an area of more than forty acres having all amenities to cater to the needs of about 2500 students and 300 staff members.
Institution offers seven undergraduate courses (B.E) and six P.G.Courses (M.Tech in C.S & E, M.Tech. in Network & Internet Engg., M.Tech in Design Engg.(Mechanical Dept.),M.Tech in Transportation Engineering & Management (Civil Dept.), M.C.A and M.B.A). There are six Research & Development centers in Civil Engg., Mechanical Engg., Electrical Engg., Electronics & Communication Engg., Computer Science Engg. and MBA departments. Engineering graduates can pursue their Ph.D and M.Sc (Engg) by Research at these centres.
Around 10000 graduates in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering have passed out from this College and have made significant contributions in Academic institutions, Industries, R & D organisations and Government departments in India and abroad.

Bank Facility & ATM:
The Extension Counter of the ING Vysya Bank is situated in the campus and it offers banking service to the staff and students of the college.
A branch Post office is functioning in the campus to cater to the needs of the staff and students in the campus.
A Co-operative Society managed by the staff and students of the college provides all the general stationery items of daily use, books and stationeries at concessional rates.
A Modern Canteen is provided in a convenient location in the Campus.
In order to provide transport facility to the students, many college buses run between the college and every other part of city throughout the day. Buses also operate till late in the evening for the convenience of hostel students. Separate bus facility is arranged for ladies.
The College has separate Hostel facilities both for Boys and Girls. Four Hostels for boys are located in the campus housing about 750 boys. The Girls hostel is located near to the campus. P.G. and Final B.E. Students are provided with single rooms.
The mess runs on dividing system for both Boys and Girls and monthly charges will be around Rs.1,200/-.
Sports & Gym:
College has excellent Indoor & Outdoor sports facilities with two big playgrounds and a Multi-Gym. Cricket Turf pitch & Pavilion of International Standard is the main attraction of the campus.
Internet browsing facility is provided for students and staff wide campus networking.
The Students are governed by the disciplinary rules of the college. All Students are required to attend classes regularly. Permission of the teacher concerned is essential for any unavoidable absence from classes. A student should have a minimum of 85% attendance in all subjects failing which he cannot appear for the University examinations and has to repeat that particular semester.
