Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT), Coimbatore is an Engineering College started in 1984 under the auspices of Ramanandha Adigalar Foundation, a charitable educational trust of Sakthi Group. It is situated in a sprawling campus of 150 acres in the IT corridor of Coimbatore which in many ways was a front runner in the eco system.
The able guidance and patronage of Arutselvar Dr. N.Mahalingam, Chairman, Sakthi Group along with the efficient administration of Dr.B.K.Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Co – Chairman, the resourcefulness of Sri. M.Balasubramaniam, Correspondent and the foresightedness of Sri. Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent have equipped the college with excellent facilities such as spacious classrooms, seminar halls, well-equipped laboratories, excellent sporting amenities, dedicated high-speed internet connectivity (broadband) and well-qualified faculty. Five Academic Blocks house the different departments. The administrative building, “Dr.Mahalingam Vigyan Bhavan” is an architectural beauty and a land mark in Coimbatore.
Currently the college, as an autonomous institution affiliated to the Anna University,offers 13 under-graduate (B.E., B.Tech.) and 14 post-graduate (M.E., M.Tech., MCA, MBA) programs of study. All the above courses have the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and all the eligible UG programs have also been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). In addition, KCT has also been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of the University Grants Commission (UGC). ISO 9001:2008 certification further confirms the institution’s commitment to educational quality. 9 of the 15 academic departments have been recognized as research centers permitting research leading to Ph.D. degree by Anna University.

Mahatma Gandhi Central Library of our college is housed in the first floor of the Dr. MahalingamVigyanBhavan in an area of 16945 sq.ft. (1575 sq.m.). The main aim of the central library is to provide information services and access to print and e-resources to support the informational needs of the institute community. The fully computerized central library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of books, printed and electronic journals, CD-ROMs, on-line databases, audio video cassettes ,project reports etc. Open Access System is being followed to access the books and journals.
The air-conditioned auditorium has a capacity of 1800 seating and an excellent stage to be used for all common functions / events.
There are four A/C seminar halls each with 250 seating fapacity located at Dr.Mahalingam Vigyan Bhavan. They are named after

These halls are regularly used to conduct Conferences and Seminars. In addition to the above seminar halls, four other seminar halls each of 120 seating capacity are located in various academic blocks.
As computers have well demonstrated their effectiveness in enhancing the convenience and speed of information processing, storage and sharing in all organizations, they have become the most significant components of educational infrastructure. The academic needs of all the departments as well as the needs from administrative activities are well satisfied by the large number of Personal Computers (presently around 1800), most of them with high end processors (like Intel Core i5) and sourced from reputed manufacturers like Dell, Lenova, Wipro and Zenith.
Large clusters of PCs are networked as LANs and are used for the laboratory classes under the curriculum not only in Computer Science related courses but also in many allied areas with computer based design and analysis as parts of the course program. 120 PCs are connected to the LAN inside the I year Computer Lab and are intensively used for acquiring basic skills in programming. Language Lab also employs 72 PCs for self-learning of correct usage of English by students. There is also a centralized Computer Aided Design (CAD) Lab with 160 high end PCs used by several departments involved in design of structures, equipment, vehicles etc. Many of them use powerful software like ANSYS, CATIA etc. Specialized software for domain specific analysis and design applications are available with individual departments, while commonly used applications are loaded in the central servers.
Our Hostel Mess, presently (2012-2013) feeding 2875 students, is run by the contractor M/s CR Caterers (I) Private Ltd., Chennai, an ISO certified caterer for past 5 years. Only Vegetarian food is served in the mess. The mess is run on a fixed rate system. For the smooth functioning of Hostel mess, there is a Mess Manager who looks after the day – to – day affairs of the Hostel mess and guides the Mess Committee in the smooth functioning of the hostel and mess. All residents are required to take their meals in the dining hall during the prescribed mess timings. Membership to the mess is compulsory for every student of all Hostels.
In our campus we have a branch of Karur Vysya Bank, started in the year 1990 for the convenience of students and staff members. KVB, with 470 branches and over 1000 ATMs, has been ranked as the best private sector bank at the Bloomberg – UTV Financial Leadership Awards, 2012. In addition to its normal banking services, sale of insurance products, Mutual funds, Depository services and trading accounts are made available in it.
A student book store functions in the campus that supplies books and stationaries to the students at the best price. The students have to deposit an amount to avail this facility and no money transactions are made at the store. Stationaries required by departmental staff are also supplied from this store.
Aruljothi Medical Center in the campus is an eight bedded hospital with two doctors and nursing assistants. Patients requiring specialized treatment are sent to the nearest multi-speciality hospitals with which the institution has tie up.
The center has indoor games facilities in the ground floor with synthetic surface of 37,624 sq.ft area for Shuttle, Badminton, Basket ball , Volley ball and Throw ball. Indoor games competition and tournaments are held in the center.
A cafeteria is functioning in the campus for the benefit of students & staff. This is situated adjacent to the workshops, opposite to P.Nachimuthu Gounder (D) Block. There are three other smaller cafes and refreshment outlets inside the campus. Spacious, airy & trendy cafeteria offers ample scope for students to break free from their arduous schedules and enjoy appetizing food in an extremely casual yet pleasant ambiance.
The College has a fleet of buses, vans and cars to transport students and staff from different places in and around Coimbatore to college and back. These buses operate along different routes starting from different locations approximately between 6.30 and 6.45 a.m. At present 8 buses and 6 mini buses are used.

There are well equipped international standard Gyms separately for men / women students and staff in an area of 2400 sq.ft with the latest equipment in the well laid out in in-door Gym units.
