In 2013, Maharaja Agrasen College was awarded with the Best College Award by the University of Delhi for its good practices towards creating the best academic environment amongst all the colleges of the University. The Award was given by the Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, on February 24, 2013, in the presence of Vice-Chancellor, University of Delhi.
Department of Computer Science, Maharaja Agrasen College has organized a talk on ” Challenges & Employability in Software Industry Worldwide ” for B.Tech students by Devender Khari ( M.E. BITS Pilani) , CEO DKOP Labs. The session started with a phrase from bible saying ” Meek shall inherit the earth ” but computer society now says “The Geek shall inherit the earth”. The very first batch of B.Tech of Delhi University got the insight of present scenario of software industry. They were enlightened by the speaker on how to prepare themselves to face the challenges and enriched themselves with the skills meeting the requirement of future industry.
The Department seeks to enhance the student’s understanding of scientific principles and to further develop their technical skills by hands-on designing and testing of electronics circuits and systems similar to those used in industry.
The proposed syllabus has been designed to cater to the needs of the hour. The contents are such, that the passing out students will be more useful for the society, industry and related jobs. The Application Courses (AC) will provide hands on training experience (like PCB design, Embedded systems, and relevant computer related languages). Besides this Research Methodology, Project and Dissertation will add to their experimental and theoretical skills.
In addition to it all the 4 AC papers will essentially provide instruction cum lab for hands on experience of the subject-i.e. 3 hours for each paper per week. All these papers will be taught by teachers of department of electronics in each college. In VII & VIII semesters the research and project work will be done under the guidance of the teachers of electronics department in each college.
The Department seeks to enhance the student’s knowledge of mathematical, quantitative and scientific principles that can be applied to various fields of applications to enable analytical decision making.
The course aims to create a solid foundation for assimilation of mathematical concepts ans structures and build mathematical skills like creative, logical and analytical thinking. The syllabus has been designed to ensure that as the course progresses systematically; it provides a firm grounding in core mathematics subjects including Calculus, Analysis, Algebra, Differential Equations and for Modeling of real life problems. Tools such as Mathematical/SPSS/Maxima shall be used to enhance the understanding of fundamental mathematical concepts.
BUSINESS ECONOMICS (MANAGEMENT STUDIES):
With the commencement of the academic session 2013-2014, the Department of Business Economics was rechristened as the Department of Management Studies. The Department conducted various activities through-out the year.
A two days Excel workshop was conducted on 1st August 2014 by Ms. Amita Khera who has more than 10 years of experience working in the corporate sector across industries such as Retail, Pharma and FMCG segment. Ms. Khera as a resource person was assessed as an excellent trainer by Avalon Consulting and WNS Analytics. The students learnt a great deal since every tool from Absolute referencing to Basic functions utility was related with practical business example usage.
Under Successful Entrepreneurs Lecture series, Mr. Sanjay Purohit promoter and CEO of Iprof India Ltd. was invited on 29th January 2014 to share his valuable experience and journey as a technocrat, a bureaucrat turned entrepreneur having rich business operations experience ranging from countries like U.S., Spain, Germany and India. Several sick units have been restructured and revived by Mr. Sanjay Purohit. He gave valuable insights to our students with respect to challenges faced in restructuring sick units vs. challenges faced while incubating a new company. Finally, the five valuable life’s learnings shared by him with students were greatly appreciated: a) Nothing great can be achieved without passion b) Good social skills is a great virtue and should be cultivated diligently c) Develop at least one world class skill d) learn to take big challenges even if you fail e) Believe in God as it will help us to be humble with success and will never let us down when failure comes.
B. Com (Hons) has been the flagship programme of Delhi University.Here,what you study in the classroom is directly applicable to your work life and the marketplace.
The commerce programme emphasizes on an interactive teacherlearner environment necessitated by the use of presentations, role plays, case studies, group discussions, educational excursions, film screening, and the use of e-resources in teaching of subjects like business laws cyber laws, business economics, and e-filing of returns.
Besides pursuing higher studies in the domain of commerce itself, the B.Com ( Hons) course is a valuable preparation for a variety of career options in entrepreneurship, marketing, green marketing, e-commerce, advertising, insurance , media, school and university teaching, business research, consultancy, law, civil services, and the list is in-exhaustive.

The college has a fully computerized well stocked library to cater to the academic and research needs of the Faculty and Students. The Library renders services such as lending of books and journals, reading room, bibliographic reference and e- information.
The Department of Physical Education inculcates and promotes an active interest in the fields of sports and maintains the fitness index of the college students. The College has developed its sports ground at the new college site at Vasundhara Enclave. Students are encouraged to use the facilities proactively and participate in various inter and intra college competitions.
The Department maintains the fitness index which covers both physical ( Height, weight etc) and physiological parameters (BP, Pulse Rate, TLC etc). Suggestions will be given for improvement on the basis of their fitness status and reviewed regularly. A large number of students participate in the Sports Day organized every year in the new college site with great enthusiasm and vigor.
Since its inception in 2011, the MAC Girls hostel has worked towards the goal of providing its boarders with an academic, activity-filled and a secure atmosphere. The hostel presently is an abode to fifty outstation students.Working with a commitment to provide holistic development to the boarders of the Girls’ hostel, the hostel committee ensures a fair balance between work and play. Several sporting activities like badminton, carom, cycling etc. are organized from time-to-time which lead to a healthy mind and body. In order to strengthen the security arrangements of the hostel, a smart card reader was installed at the entry gate of the hostel this year.
The Placement Cell at Maharaja Agrasen College is dedicated towards giving its students opportunities to build their career before they have crossed the threshold of the college. In the session 201 3-2014, the MAC Placement Cell has continued to work towards this goal. In order to prepare the students for the competitive world, the Placement Cell collaborated with CPACS (The Centre For Performing Arts and Cultural Studies) Cell called LETTER (Learn through Theatre) and organized theater workshops In September and October 2013. The LETTER organized two-month long programme consisting of 32 sessions on theatrical skills and personality development for the first year FYUP students. Led by Mr. Arvind Gaur, Trainer, Asmita Theater Group and coordinated by Mr. Vinod Verma, the workshop received a very positive feedback from the students. Students were awarded certificates at the end of the programme. The closing ceremony was marked by the presence of Principal, Dr. Sunil Sondhi.
