St. Francis Group of Institutions are run by the Franciscan Missionary Brothers, an International Congregation headquartered at Borivali (West), Mumbai.
Rev. Brother Paulus Moritz of Germany has founded the Congregation of the Franciscan Brothers in the year 1901 with the vision of reaching out to the poor and the less privileged.
St. Francis Group of Institutions in Mumbai are a chain of Catholic Minority Educational Institutions located in the western suburb of India’s Financial Capital Mumbai. St. Francis Group of Institutions have today become a pride of Mumbai and India’s most sought academic community for its focus on excellence in value based education and beneficial & educative extracurricular activities.

MMS:
It is my privilege to bring to everyone’s attention the building of the structure and culture in SFIMAR, jointly by Faculty members, Placement cell , Administrative staff and the students, supported by the Management which we have aptly named “Management Ecosystem”. This system encapsulates various activities such as Academic excellence, Personality grooming, Industry interface, Entrepreneurial Advantage etc., with the aim of transforming a raw student into a radical participant and making him/her more employable. In order to achieve this, every student participant is subjected to a rigorous regime which is a combination of Academic excellence, regular Group Discussions, Mock Personal Interviews, Debates, Compulsory Newspaper reading, adequate Counselling and Mentoring through a team of brilliant and admirable faculty members and a formidable team of Career & Placement Center. This will also be complemented with different training programs and each training program has a feedback mechanism to assess the performance of the trainer and an assimilation test to measure the performance of the student participants. Every participation by the students in the various activities is measured, recorded and is unified into an innovative Placement Grading System. As every subject has an additional 30 hours of learning. Roughly about 240 hours of additional learning is imparted supplementing the class room learning. We always insist that the two years that each student participant is experiencing, is an excellent platform and opportunity to acquire all the necessary skills. While we wish all the participants the very best, we also extend an advisory note that if one proceeds in the path carved methodically by SFIMAR with caution and understanding of the ground reality and a focused goal, the limit of success could be even well beyond the sky.
PGDM:
Our two year full time PGDM (General Management), duly approved by AICTE New Delhi and DTE – Government of Maharashtra, is an innovative THREE DIMENSIONAL incorporating ‘Functional Electives’, ‘Sectoral Electives’ and ‘Transformational Leadership’ spread across Six Trimesters.
The Functional Electives on offer are Finance, Marketing, HRM, Operations and Systems. Sectoral Electives currently on offer are Financial Markets, Banking & Insurance, Retail Management, International Business and Entrepreneurship. These three dimensions are most contemporary, developed jointly by industry and academic think tanks.
The Program adopts more of “Andragogy” and less of “Pedagogy” in its delivery. Pedagogy emphasizes transmitting the content, whereas Andragogy facilitates the acquisition of content. The Programs are Learner-Centric, encouraging the learner to identify their learning needs and we help them achieve those needs.
The learning is more inductive rather than deductive. Inductive learning is in the form of Problem Solving through Case Studies, Business Modeling and Analytics, Simulation Labs, Movies/Films, etc.
The learning is Performance-Centric organized around real-life application. The students of our PGDM Program interact with companies for about 100 hours in each year of the program, in the form of industry lecture series, field / company visits, etc. which helps them to understand the industry ecosystem.

Guest Lectures:
At SFIMAR, emphasis is given on not only making the students academically brilliant, but true leaders and team players, thus preparing them for the real life corporate world. This is done by inviting people from industries and top institutions to provide valuable information to the students about the latest updates of the industry.

Seminars & Conferences:
SFIMAR hosts various international & national seminars & conferences to encourage industry-institution interaction amongst its students. These conferences & workshops are organized with an aim of discussing current business strategies & emerging issues related to technological advancements, globalization etc.

LEARNING & INFORMATION RESOURCE CENTRE (LIRC):
SFIMAR’s LIRC provides information support to Learning, Teaching, Research & Consultancy domains. A digital library with dedicated computer terminals is available for students.
The LIRC provides a conducive environment to users and equipped with all modern facilities. A completely integrated library software including bar-coding system has automated a lot of procedures and facilitates efficient circulation of books and other library material.
The bibliographic details of library documents can be accessed through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) from any of the work stations (computer terminals) available in the campus through Wi-fi.
Using OPAC, users can also look for CD-ROMs/DVDs and choose their programs to watch them on the spot. Endeavor is to create an inspiring learning environment, which enables the students to develop the managerial and entrepreneurial skills.

COMPUTER CENTRE:
SFIMAR is equipped with state-of-the-art computing facilities to complement classroom pedagogy. All the hostel rooms, classrooms, departments & offices are equipped with internet facility.
Lectures are typically augmented by multimedia. SFIMAR’s Computer Centre hosts latest configuration machines, licensed software applications, language labs, IT Lab & High Speed Internet Facilities.
The faculty and staff of computer centre are involved in spreading computer literacy by delivering lectures and organizing Continuing Education Programs.
The Computer Centre at SFIMAR is actively involved in various consulting/ extension activities.

CAREER MANAGEMENT CENTRE (CMC)
The Career Management Centre (CMC) is the liaison between our highly diverse talent pool of students; alumni and employers who benefit from their expertise.
CMC provides students and alumni with a wide range of personalized services, helping students individually for their career planning, clarifying career directions, resume writing and interview preparation etc.
The Centre caters to career services needs of students, alumni and employers. CMC plans workshops, panel discussions, networking events specific to all phases of the career search.

CLASSROOMS:
The classrooms are air-conditioned and very spacious. They are ergonomically designed for participative learning and are equipped with all the necessary audio-visual facilities such as microphones, LCD projector, speakers etc.
Computer System is available in each of the classrooms and is effectively used as a teaching aid. Institute also host specially designed tutorial rooms for conducting debates & discussions.
AUDITORIUM & SEMINAR HALL:
Our acoustically designed air-conditioned auditorium has a seating capacity of 600; stands ideal for hosting various cultural activities & functions.
Various MDP’s & Training programs are conducted in SFIMAR’s specially designed seminar hall & conference rooms.
RECREATIONAL FACILITIES:
Replenishing refreshing energy into our students, a range of facilities are available for indoor & outdoor games in campus.
Encouraging the spirit of sportsmanship, a slew of annual competitions are conducted for sports & cultural activities on our vastly spread playground.

COMMON ROOMS:
The institute has designed gender specific common rooms for the students.
These rooms are also used for socializing, discussions, interacting with each other and to relax & revitalize after their busy lecture schedules.
WI-FI CAMPUS:
SFIMAR campus is a blend of tradition and technology. The lush green wide spaces and peaceful surroundings create an ideal ambience for learning.
The campus is Wi-Fi enabled giving the students 24X7 access to internet facilities within the entire campus. Students can also access the Institute’s intranet within the campus that helps them in completing their assignments, research projects & presentations on time.
IN-HOUSE BANK:
An Extension counter of Catholic Syrian Bank (CSB) is functioning inside the campus. Arrangements have been made with the bank to accept the college and hostel fees.
In addition, it also provides other banking facilities to staff & students. Digital Payments, Internet Banking etc. are some of the facilities that the students & staff can access as per their convenience
CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE:
The Centre of Excellence provides a forum where knowledge and understanding of business can be exchanged between the academic and the corporate worlds.
This constant exchange provides a theoretical, empirical, and practical foundation for an informed study of emerging markets.
FITNESS CENTRE:
A well-equipped fitness Centre is available in the campus with latest modern equipment’s.
Students are provided enough opportunities to build on their physical fitness and embark on the healthier path.
HOSTEL:
A Home Away From Home…. The well-furnished hostel building is equipped with all the modern amenities for the out- station students.
It helps them feel at home and concentrate on their studies with 24X7 high speed wireless LAN connections (Wi-Fi facility).
Institute has also provided lockers for all the students to keep their Valuables & Baggage.
IN- HOUSE CAFETERIA:
A cafeteria serving broad selection of items & maintaining high level of hygiene is functioning inside the campus for providing quality-catering facilities for the students and staff at moderate rates. Our cafeteria specializes in Indian & Chinese cuisines.
It also provides Mess facilities to hostel students. The cafeteria is operational till 10 pm for hostel students.

New Initiatives
The ‘Thought Leader’ Programme : This programme invokes reading interest among students, on current topics in their area of specialization, in order to increase their familiarization with issues confronting the respective industries and help them develop a critical and analytical bent of mind. The programme also serves the dual purpose of requiring faculty to keep abreast of current topics of interest from industries’ perspective.
The ‘Lead by Example’ Programme : This programme aims at creating a few groups of students who select niche areas in their respective field of specialization. The students volunteer based on their aptitude for such areas and are groomed with advanced skills and techniques through specialized training and workshops so that they can compete well in the employment fields.
Overall Personality Development of Students : New initiatives have been proposed in order to improve the overall personality, soft skills, attitude, positive thinking, wisdom, values and business ethics and other high delivery sustainable qualities among students. The Career Management Centre is entrusted with the assignment of bringing in various experts in the above fields to impart their experience in professional life.
Academic Enhancement Value Chain : While this programme is mainly meant for improving faculty quality and developing their research, consulting and other related interests, it is also believed that some of the outcomes of this programme (research development value chain) will also benefit students as their summer internship and winter projects can be linked to this value chain.
Faculty development and academic enhancement activities : This will include programmes to enhance our faculty’s knowledge in their subject matter and concurrent issues, increase their research aptitude and improve their collaboration with industry and reputed academic institutions through consulting and advisory work, participation in seminars, workshops and conferences, MDP and FDP, overseas faculty exchange and academic collaborations.
Curricula and Teaching Methodology Development Value Chain : Under this programme, our faculty are involved with external faculty or academic scholars, industry practitioners associated with reputed and highly accredited universities, B-Schools and other academic institutions, research organizations and reputed companies to obtain valuable assistance and guidance on issues related to curricula and pedagogy, most recent trends in delivery of academic matter and content, significant research trends and industry practices.
