Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Ahmedabad was established in August 1994, with an objective of imparting higher education in various fields of engineering and technology. This institute is recognized by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and Institute of Engineers (India). The college is administrated by Directorate of Technical Education, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar and is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University. VGEC shifted to its own campus at Chandkheda, Ahmedabad in the year 2004.

The institute provides excellent accommodation to its students. The students are provided with all the amenities so that their stay here becomes a worthwhile experience
The institute has a boys hostel with capacity of 282 students and a girls hostel with capacity of 180 students. There are messes in the both hostel campus. Many newspapers and magazines are subscribed for the hostel library. Entertainment facilities like TV room, badminton room, gymnasium are also available in hostel. Outdoor and indoor games are also provided for the hostilities. University health centre has extended its services to the students of our hostel. The hostel is administered by the rector and four wardens.
All students and faculty members of Vishwakarma Government Engineering College are to be registered as Member of library. Book borrowing rights are given to all Students (UG/PG) and faculty members.
We are pleased to announce multiple Student Clubs in Vishwakarma Government Engineering College in order to ensure overall development of the student fraternity. These include various clubs covering almost all kinds of co-curricular activities.
A student is free to enroll in multiple clubs by filling up multiple forms. The club will be formed when we have a minimum of 5 students interested and registered.
