Bapatla Engineering College (Autonomous) is one of the seven Educational Institutions founded and run by BAPATLA EDUCATION SOCIETY. The society was established in the year 1962 registered No:58/1962 under societies act XXI of 1860 with the objectives to found and run the Educational & Cultural Institutions.
This College is one of the few Engineering Colleges in Andhra Pradesh, which is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The Five B. Tech. Courses which were accredited thrice are: Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electonics and Communications Engineering, Electrical and Electonics Engineering & Mechanical Engineering. The Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering and Chemical Engineering courses were accredited twice and Infomation Technology was also accredited once.
The Institution of Engineers (India) accredited 8 B. Tech. programmes offered by the college based on the recommendations of the 6-member sub committee of senior Professors from IISc, Bangalore constituted by it. Further, the Ministry of Surface Transport recognized Mechanical Engineering Course of the College. In addition to this, the college is also registered with Dept. of Scientific & Industrial Research for the purpose of availing Customs duty exemption.
The college is selected as a Network Institute for the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) of the Ministry of Human Resources Development and the World Bank. An amount of Rs. 11.81 crores was granted to the college under this programme. Under this programme, the laboratories of six departments (Civil, Mechanical, EEE, ECE, EIE and CSE) were modernized and an amount of Rs.7 Crores was spent for procurement of modern lab equipment and software. All the class rooms are provided with LCD Projectors and OHPs. A CISCO Digital Media System (DMS) was procured and installed in a studio from where the lectures given by senior faculty or an expert from outside or a visiting dignitary are transmitted live to all these class rooms apart from archiving the same for revision anywhere and anytime.

Acclaimed as the one of the biggest Libraries with 22,000 sq. ft. area in the State, The Central Library of BEC has been playing a vital role as Information Centre catering to the Academic and learning needs of the faculty and Students alike since inception. The facility is serving the student fraternity ranging from under graduate to Masters and ultimately aiding the Research stratum of Bapatla Engineering College.
As a jewel in the crown of BEC, The Library aims at providing premium quality learning resources in the form of Books, Journals, E-Journals and C.Ds pertinent to Curricula of diverse Engineering and Technology and of general nature to the students and Teaching Staff. The Library also supports Departmental Libraries for acquisition and maintenance of Titles throughout the academic year.
A hygienic, well-furnished and well-equipped canteen is available in the campus to provide food at subsidized rates for the staff and students. Purified drinking water is supplied in the college, hostel and canteen.
The college has been providing commuting facility to its staff and students with notable subsidized fares. The transportation facility is handled with an efficient fleet of 11 buses punctually running from Bapatla to College from morning to late evening on all working days.
Bapatla Engineering College has a unique feature of working hours from 7:30AM to 1:00PM, which allows the staff and students to make use of the extent of the day. Apart from the regular Shuttle services to commute the staff and students, Transport facility supports the students and staff to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities during afternoons
BEC uniquely provides on campus hostel facility to its girl student community. This hostel accommodating 1600 girl students is maintained on self-run basis by students themselves. The residents of hostel are provided with 24 hr hot water supply through solar water heaters. The students health needs are taken care by dispensary with a visiting doctor and 24/7 ambulance.
The college camppus also houses a post office to cater to the mail needs of students and staff. The students can save their precious time by using services of this on campus post office to send applications for higher education and mailing DDs and other alied postal services.
BEC recognizes that physical and mental health significantly influences one’s ability to participate fully in the College community. The Health Center strives to enhance each student’s well being by providing comprehensive, private health care and by encouraging informed, individual involvement on health related decisions. The college has a dispensary to dispose first-aid to students and staff. A doctor visits college on regular basis to be available to residents of on campus Girls Hostel. The College also has a dedicated Ambulance service to meet medical emergencies, if any. The students can utilize preferential treatment service by visiting the hospital of visiting doctor in town anytime.
