The National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR), has been constituted as a non profit organization with the express objective of engaging in activities for the promotion of education, training, research, professionalism and skill formation at all levels of the construction and other allied industries. Besides that, NICMAR’s objectives include undertaking special projects, collaboration with other organizations, dissemination of knowledge through seminars / conferences, etc; publishing literature, undertaking consultancy and taking necessary actions conducive to fulfillment of the objectives of the Society. Under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, NICMAR was registered as a Public Trust in 1982. The NICMAR Society was constituted in 1984 and registered under the Societies’ Registration Act, 1860.
The Board of Trustees, the Board of Governors and the Director General, referred in the Memorandum of Association as the ‘Chief Executive’ of the Society, are responsible for all the decisions and actions related to NICMAR. At the Institute level, there is an Academic Council chaired by Director General which is responsible for all academic decisions. There is also Research Advisory Board and an Academic Advisory Council to provide advisory support in areas referred to these bodies. There is a well developed internal organizational structure with well defined roles and responsibilities for regular administration and management of the Institute.
Post Graduate Programmes in Advanced Construction Management:
This inter-disciplinary programme of studies builds upon the concepts and methodologies of management, engineering, architecture, law, information technology, social and behavioral sciences and combines theory with practical experience and research work. This programme has been designed to suit the needs of students from India and other countries in the Afro-Asian region.
The programme is structured to prepare NICMAR graduates for undertaking professional responsibilities demanding high proficiency in skills of application of latest technology, people management, project finance, international markets -all with a special reference to infrastructure development and real estate projects. The curriculum has been reviewed from time to time to incorporate the latest advancements in Construction, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Project(CRIP) industry and to build a strong competence in the diversified area.
Post Graduate Programme in Project Engineering and Management:
This programme of study builds upon the concepts and practices of Project Engineering and Management and combines subject knowledge with project practices.
The objective of the Programme is to train young and dynamic graduate engineers to develop them into mature and knowledgeable professional project managers with the potential to manage large and complex projects in India or abroad, and enable them to shoulder responsibility in any functional capacity.
Post Graduate Programme in Real Estate And Urban Infrastructure Management:
This multi-disciplinary programme of studies builds upon the concepts and methodologies of management, engineering, architecture, law, information technology, social and behavioral sciences and combines theory with practical experience and research work. This programme has been designed to suit the needs of students from India.
Post Graduate Programme in Infrastructure Finance, Development & Management:
NICMAR offers a two year PGP-IFDM intensive professional programme in financing, developing and managing economic infrastructure projects with sector specific focus, that is tailor made to enterprise level needs. The programme aims to develop the students to understand the potential in the management of infrastructure projects covering the life cycle view of projects and management of infrastructure systems efficiently, using technical and management techniques. Sector specific inputs include transportation, power, oil and gas courses offered as a mix of electives and core courses.
All classrooms are air conditioned and well equipped with LCD projector, computer system with internet.
Each campus is equipped with a library. The Pune Campus Library is the main library designed to support the students, faculty & research scholars. It is a specialized library in the area of Construction Management, Project Management, and Real Estate Management & Infrastructure Development. In addition, the library provides knowledge resources in a variety of management & engineering subjects such as:

Each computer lab is air conditioned. Computers in the computer labs are of the latest technology with leading construction business related application packages like Microsoft Project Management, Primavera (P6), BIM, Candy for Project Management and BRIX for contract management and SPSS, QE Pro for Data Analysis & Estimation and leading ERP packages like Microsoft Dynamics . Palisade Decision Tool Suite Industrial Software like @Risk, @Evolver, @Stat Tools, @Top Rank, @Neural Tools. An advanced Digital Language Lab is available for students to get proficiency in English
Pune campus is having four conference halls, one Faculty conference hall and three Executive conference halls. Faculty conference is generally used to take academic council meeting for academic purpose. Other executive halls are used for executive training. All these conference halls are having capacity of around 30-35 seats with AC. The campuses of NICMAR at Pune, Hyderabad, Goa, Indore and Mumbai (Head Office) are connected by way of Video Conferencing (VC) System
NICMAR Pune campus is having an auditorium with 300 seating capacity.
Pune campus currently has four hostels, which together provide 904 single occupancy rooms for boys and 194 shared occupancy for girl students.
Pune campus has an executive hostel with 30 single occupancy rooms, bath attached for the Executive trainers. Each room is well equipped with internet facility, TV and AC.
The mess facilities are run by the contractor hired by NICMAR under the supervision of the Manager, Premises and Services (P & S). The manager, according to the suggestion of Students’ Co-coordinator, prepares menu on weekly basis
Indoor & Outdoor Sports:
Well-equipped facilities for indoor games such as Carom boards, TT tables, Chess boards, Gym, Music room, Common T.V. room are provided to the students. Outdoor sports facilities such as Football ground, Volleyball court, Badminton court are also provided
Internet browsing service for 24 / 7 hours is provided to students at all campuses. Each student is provided with the Institute’s e-mail ID for academic communications. The campus at Pune is completely Wi-Fi with high speed internet connection.
